PUBLIC SAFETY SPECIALIST

VANDALIA DIVISION OF POLICE

With a tradition of service excellence, the CALEA-accredited Vandalia Police Division is accepting applications from energetic and skilled professionals who would like to serve our community and citizens as a Public Safety Specialist, providing dispatch communications, clerical and records support.  The Police Division is recruiting for the purpose of establishing a Provisional Eligibility Register in advance preparation for possible future vacancies.

CITY OF VANDALIA

FULL TIME CUSTODIAN

Proud to assure impeccable care and maintenance of city facilities, the Vandalia Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a skilled and responsible Custodian for full time evening work at the Vandalia Recreation Center. 

The chosen candidate will maintain the safety and security of the Center and perform a variety of tasks to ensure the facility’s cleanliness to include restrooms and locker rooms, fitness and exercise areas, offices and common areas.  Duties include scrubbing; dusting; wet mopping, vacuuming, stripping, sweeping and waxing floors, trash removal; walls and windows; snow removal and application of salt to sidewalks and driveways.  They will operate power cleaning equipment, perform minor maintenance and assist in the set-up and tear-down of special events. Weekend work on a rotational basis is required.

The successful applicant must hold a high school diploma or GED and possess two to four years of self-directed custodial experience.  They must exhibit proven familiarity with custodial practices, supplies and equipment and the ability to oversee subordinate staff.  Customer service is a priority and the chosen candidate will interact exceptionally with VRC patrons and co-workers, alike.

Pay range is $12 to $20 per hour plus an excellent fringe benefits package. Candidates will be subject to an extensive background investigation, physical exam and pre-employment drug screen.

PUBLIC WORKS

TEMPORARY PART TIME

With a busy fall ahead, the Vandalia Public Works Department is accepting applications for a Temporary Part Time Technician. 

Candidates must be at least 18 and have a valid Ohio driver’s license.  Those with recent, demonstrated successful experience in landscaping, construction work or similar work will be given first consideration, as this position primarily involves outdoor labor.

The position is temporary.  Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. up to five days per week through November.  Hourly pay rate is $8.15.  There are NO health care or other benefits; the position is strictly temporary and is ideal for a student attending college locally, a retiree or as a supplement to another flexible part-time job.

Oral interviews will be conducted as well as an extensive background investigation and drug testing for those holding commercial driver’s licenses.

Specific shifts needing filled are

Monday through Friday
5:45 a.m to 3:30 p.m.
As well as anytime on weekends

$8.75 – $9.00 depending upon experience
