Vandalia Accepting Applications for Public Works Technician
The City of Vandalia is seeking a skilled, energetic professional to join its multi-skilled Public Works team. Committed to exemplary service, technicians are responsible for all aspects of public works construction and maintenance–streets, curbs, sidewalks; water, sewer and storm infrastructure. They drive trucks, mow, plow snow and operate equipment; perform guardrail work, grave opening and closing, leaf and large trash collection, painting and installation of traffic markings and devices, etc.
Applicants must be 18, hold high school diploma or GED and demonstrate 1-2 recent years’ experience in outdoor work, vehicle and equipment operation and/or heavy labor for extended periods. They must be available for periodic overtime–nights, weekends, holidays. Those with prior public works experience may be considered first.
Candidates must obtain Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within six months of appointment. Those with a current, valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement will receive preference. Due to occasional emergency call-out, selected candidate must reside in Montgomery County or adjacent county upon appointment.
Candidates will undergo interviews, extensive background investigation; DOT physical/drug screen.
Starting rate is $17 per hour; outstanding fringe benefits.

Vandalia Accepting Police Officer Applications
With a tradition of service excellence, the nationally-accredited Vandalia Police Division is accepting applications from energetic and skilled professionals who would like to serve our community and citizens as Police Officer.
Applicants must be 21 by March 6, 2017. They must possess or obtain, upon appointment, a valid Ohio driver’s license, Ohio Peace Officer and Ohio Emergency Medical Responder certifications. Chosen candidates must reside within Montgomery County or in an adjacent county to include Butler, Warren, Greene, Clark, Miami, Darke or Preble.
Current Vandalia Police Officer starting salary is $56,811 with generous benefits.

Ages 15 and older: Cassel Hills Pool Lifeguard (requires certification), Swim Lesson Aide, CHP Front Desk Attendant
Ages 16 and older: Swim Lesson Instructor, Pool Maintenance, Park/Facility Maintenance, Golf Maintenance, Golf Course Operations
Ages 18 and older: Summer Camp Counselor, Part Time Public Works Technician
Ages 19 and older: Golf Snack Bar Attendant (age 21 preferred)
Part-time, year ‘round positions available periodically at the Vandalia Rec Center, in our Facilities Maintenance and Fire Divisions include jobs like the following:
Ages 15 and older: Climbing Wall, Swim Lesson Aide, Lifeguard (requires certification) and Fitness Center Attendant,

Ages 18 and older: Aerobics & Fitness Instructor (requires certification), Facility Coordinator, VRC Custodial, and Fire and EMS staff (certification required).
