FULL TIME PUBLIC SAFETY OPPORTUNITIES

POLICE LIEUTENANT

The Vandalia Division of Police seeks a Police Lieutenant. 

The selected candidate will join the Chief and one other Lieutenant in administration of the Police Division, supervising as many as six subordinate supervisors who direct employees in the Operations or Administrative and Support Services components of the agency.    

The selected candidate must reside within Montgomery County or in an adjacent county.

The Lieutenant base salary range is $88,400 to $115,128; exceptional benefits.

POLICE SUPPORT SERVICES MANAGER

The Vandalia Division of Police seeks a Support Services Manager. This non-sworn position involves budget management and supervision of public safety communications/records/clerical.

Candidates must be 18 with 3-4 years’ public safety records/communications/management experience and/or training. High school diploma or GED and reside within Montgomery or an adjacent county.

Only those with a background in public safety services will be considered. Others need not apply.

Pay range is $46,155 to $69,222; exceptional benefits.

POLICE OFFICER

The Vandalia Division of Police is accepting applications for Police Officer.

Applicants must be 21 by June 18.  They must possess or obtain valid Ohio driver’s license, Ohio Peace Officer and Emergency Medical Responder certifications. Chosen candidates must reside within Montgomery County or in an adjacent county.

Current pay range is $59,687 to $79,543; exceptional benefits.

POLICE PUBLIC SAFETY SPECIALIST

The Vandalia Division of Police is accepting applications for Public Safety Specialist (PSS).  This is a key support role specializing in public safety communications and record keeping, including 9-1-1 police, fire and EMS dispatching and customer service.      

Current salary range is $46,841 to $60,507; exceptional benefits.

FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC/FIRE INSPECTOR

The Vandalia Division of Fire seeks a Full Time Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic/Fire Inspector. 

Applicants must be 18 and hold Ohio Level II Firefighting and Ohio Paramedic certification upon issuance of a conditional offer.

Current starting base salary is $48,438; exceptional benefits.

CITY OF VANDALIA
ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR

The City of Vandalia seeks an Electrical Inspector in its Development and Engineering Services Department.  Reporting to the Chief Building Official, the successful candidate will be responsible for inspection of electrical installations and zoning code issues to verify conformance with codes, laws and ordinances.  They will inspect electrical installations during and after construction or remodeling to enforce codes, laws and ordinances; inspect properties to enforce the zoning code; interpret legal requirements and recommend compliance procedures to contractors, craftworkers and owners and keep extensive records. They will also review construction plans and inspect properties to ensure compliance with the zoning code.

A high school diploma or GED is required, as is a valid State of Ohio Electrical Safety Inspector Certificate and a valid Ohio driver’s license. 

The selected candidate must have working knowledge of Word, Excel and Access and exhibit the ability to work calmly and courteously and yet deal effectively and firmly with the public in sensitive situations.

Salary range is $24 to $36 per hour with a starting rate of $24 to $28, DOQ, in addition to an excellent benefits package.
