FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC/FIRE INSPECTOR

Vandalia Division of Fire

With a tradition of service excellence, the City of Vandalia is accepting applications for Full Time Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic/Fire Inspector. 

Applicants must meet the following:

  • 18 years old
  • S. Citizen
  • Reside within 30-minute response of Vandalia upon appointment
  • Three years’ active full or part time service as a firefighter/paramedic
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license
  • Ohio Level II Firefighting certification
  • Ohio Paramedic certification
  • Ohio Fire Safety Inspector certification
  • EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator Course) and/or two years of fire apparatus driving experience
  • Associate’s Degree or 2 years’ college credit preferred

Current base salary is $48,438; outstanding benefits package.

PART TIME IT SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

City Manager’s Office

The City of Vandalia is seeking a Part Time Information Technology Support Technician to assist its IT Department.  Reporting to the Information Technology Manager, the chosen candidate will provide Tier 1 support to Vandalia employees, offering hands-on assistance to workstations and users, as well as Helpdesk support.  The technician will work 20-28 hours per week; during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.        

Candidates must possess an associate’s degree in an IT-related program (MIS, Networking, Support, Management, etc.) OR be currently enrolled in such program OR hold one year of relevant, IT-related job experience.

They must exhibit experience configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows workstations and working with Microsoft Office products, have a basic understanding of LAN/WAN technology, IP network configuration and wireless communication and a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows Servers.

Additionally, they must possess excellent verbal/written communication skills, be able to work independently and with a team and interact with co-workers and internal customers in a professional manner.

Performance responsibilities will include the following:

  1. Manage helpdesk tickets by responding to Tier 1 issues, such as basic hardware and software problems. Duties often include software troubleshooting and installation, application upgrades and software rollouts as well as basic printer support.
  2. Active Directory account support and NTFS Permissions
  3. WiFi implementation and support
  4. Support for PCs, tables, laptops and various peripherals.
  5. Update network documentation and diagrams for servers, workstations, network equipment and logical processes of applications
  6. Various other duties as assigned

If you are dependable, hardworking and enjoy serving others, the City of Vandalia would like to hear from you!  Through February 17, 2017, Vandalia is recruiting part time and summer seasonal employees for the areas of Parks and Recreation, Facilities Maintenance, Public Works and Cassel Hills Golf Course and Swimming Pool.  Additionally, the Vandalia Fire Department welcomes part time applications year ‘round.

The City will NOT be holding an on-site Job Fair at the Rec Center in 2017

Part-time, 2017 SEASONAL (Summer/Early Fall only) positions that may be available in the Parks and Recreation and Public Works Departments and at Cassel Hills Golf Course include the following:

Ages 14 and older:  Youth Sport Official, Sports Complex Concessionaire

Ages 15 and older:  Cassel Hills Pool Lifeguard (requires certification), Swim Lesson Aide, CHP Front Desk Attendant 

Ages 16 and older: Swim Lesson Instructor, Pool Maintenance, Park/Facility Maintenance, Golf Maintenance, Golf Course Operations

Ages 18 and older: Summer Camp Counselor, Part Time Public Works Technician

Ages 19 and older: Golf Snack Bar Attendant (age 21 preferred) 

Part-time, year ‘round positions available periodically at the Vandalia Rec Center, in our Facilities Maintenance and Fire Divisions include jobs like the following:

Ages 15 and older:  Climbing Wall, Swim Lesson Aide, Lifeguard (requires certification) and Fitness Center Attendant,

Ages 16 and older: Birthday Party Attendant, Childcare Attendant, Buildings Custodial, Swim Lesson Instructor, Gymnasium Attendant

Ages 17 and older: VRC Front Desk Attendant     

Ages 18 and older: Aerobics & Fitness Instructor (requires certification), Facility Coordinator, VRC Custodial, and Fire and EMS staff (certification required).

The Vandalia Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting lifeguards with current American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED
or equivalent Vacancies exist NOW!

Specific shifts needing filled are

Monday through Friday
5:45 to 11 a.m.
3 to 6 p.m.
As well as anytime on weekends

$8.75 – $9.00 depending upon experience
