“TAKING A CLOSER LOOK”
Photography Exhibit by Angie Ferrell
On Exhibit thru April 28, 2017
“Taking a Closer Look” photography exhibit by local artist, Angie Ferrell, is about looking at the world from a different angle or closer perspective, and maybe finding the unusual in what before seemed commonplace—human emotion, a backyard song bird, a flower, a quiet place, or the sky above.
“I strive for my work to reveal splendor in the simplest things, and trust that it will encourage you to slow down and take the time to genuinely look at the beauty that surrounds you. Since taking my first photograph as a teenager, I have loved watching the world through a lens. A camera is a remarkable tool for capturing human emotion, split-second action and gorgeous landscapes, but it has been through the viewfinder that I have discovered the extraordinary in what I otherwise might have overlooked as ordinary. I am excited to share that vantage point with you through my photos” shares artist Angie Ferrell.
This exhibit is on display at the Vandalia Municipal Building Gallery thru the end of April, 2017. The gallery is open to the public during normal business hours: Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. A reception for the public, family and friends will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm.
A lifetime area resident and Vandalia-Butler High School graduate, Angie purchased her first camera at sixteen with money from her summer job at the Amateur Trapshooting Association. She worked seventeen years in human services, is raising two children with her husband Jon, but no matter how busy life gets, has never lost her passion for photography.
