Sports Complex
The City of Vandalia Sports Complex has something for everyone. The one hundred acre site contains more than a mile of paved walking and jogging paths. View a map of the walking path with distance markings (PDF). Three age specific playgrounds. One designed for children 2 to 5 years of age and two designed for 5 to 12 year old's. The park includes 11 ball diamonds which are available for public use as weather conditions permit and not lined for league play. Two sand volleyball courts, the Training Ground Outdoor Fitness Area and basketball courts are also available for use.
The east side of the complex is home to our fall soccer leagues. During the off-season, the goals are removed and the turf area recovers and fills the worn areas. This open space is an excellent area for kite flying, frisbee play, etc. Open areas are not, however, open to golf ball hitting due to the inherent risks.
Plan on enjoying the sports complex when you have the opportunity. This spring, many of the trees will be in bloom. If you haven’t, stop in and check out the Recreation Center during your next visit to the sports complex. View Park Rules and Regulations (PDF).
