The City of Vandalia is accepting resumes from those who would like to join its administrative team as Assistant to the City Manager. 

The position serves as Human Resources Director and performs a wide variety of duties in administrative support to all City departments, outside agencies, and the general public. Additionally, they monitor the City’s communications and public relations efforts.

They coordinate the recruitment and qualification processes to fill employment vacancies and administer the Civil Service process; keep record of personnel transactions; develop and administer employee benefit and incentive programs; administer the City’s Personnel Policies and Procedures; and research, develop, and recommend policy changes as necessary.  The individual serving in this capacity will play a key role in the administration of Vandalia’s self-funded health care plan—working with brokers, third party medical and dental administrators, networks and members to assure exemplary care, effective claims processing and responsible cost management.

The chosen candidate will manage and supervise activities of the City’s full time Communication Manager, overseeing and participating in all aspects of internal and external communications, in presentation format, in print and online.

They will serve as safety coordinator, administering property/casualty/liability and worker’s comp coverages, investigating claims and accidents, and serving on the board of trustees of the Miami Valley Risk Management Association, the City’s risk management pool.

The chosen candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree– Master’s degree preferred– with any combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides thorough knowledge of human resources, personnel management, or a related field.  Four years of relevant experience is required, as is a valid Ohio driver’s license.  Human resources professional certification is preferred.

Pay range is $65,852 to $104,457 with an exceptional benefits package.

The City of Vandalia is accepting applications for Assistant Finance Director in its Finance Department.

The selected candidate will supervise five in accounts payable and receivable, payroll and utility billing.  They will participate in interviewing, hiring, training and supervising employees; planning, scheduling, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

They will fill in for the Finance Director as needed, making office management decisions, ensuring reports are filed, purchase orders processed, payables made and bank statements balanced.  They will assist the Director in report preparation including the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and City budget.               

They will hold a bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and at least four years’ related governmental experience in a finance office; or equivalent combination of the two. Salary range is $61,547 to $89,544 annually, DOQ.
