Damian, Soter, Romanus & Desales Watermain Replacement

The City of Vandalia has planned a water main replacement project with work tentatively scheduled to begin August 11th.  All of the existing water main in the project area will be replaced during this project.  The contractor will also be replacing some sections of curb and sidewalk where needed.  The contractor for this project will be C.G. Construction & Utilities Inc.   They have until August 7, 2026 to complete this project,DSRD_water_proj area but their goal is to complete the water installation and concrete repairs this year and place asphalt in their work areas before winter weather arrives.  They will then return in the spring to mill and resurface the entire street with new asphalt.

The water line that services the impacted properties will be replaced within the street right-of-way.  During this work, crews will minimize, as much as possible, any interruption in water service. There will be a short period of time when water will be shut off to reconnect to the new water service.  After pipe installation is complete, the contractor will perform the concrete replacement and then resurface the entire street with asphalt.  Any yard restoration needed will also be the responsibility of the contractor.

During construction, the road will remain open to residents for access to their properties. There may be times, however, when there will be a delay in access.  We ask for patience while they perform the necessary utility & road work.  Mail delivery and trash collection should not be affected by the construction.

The good news is that all of this work will be done at no cost to homeowners.   We ask that residents do not park vehicles within the project area during construction for their protection and to not slow down the contractor’s progress.  There may be exceptions to this: if work is being done directly in front of a driveway or if it is necessary to pour new curb across a driveway, residents may be asked to park elsewhere.  If this is the case the contractor will contact those residents and coordinate this work.

Police and Fire crews will have continuous access to all impacted streets.   While local residents will be able to drive within the work area to get to their property, we ask that drivers move slowly & carefully in construction zones.  Drivers should also be careful to avoid any contractor equipment, materials or structures.

The City of Vandalia appreciates the cooperation and patience of residents as we make these improvements.   Please contact the City of Vandalia, Development and Engineering Services office, 937-898-3750, with any questions or concerns.
