Youth Scholarship Fund

The Vandalia Parks and Recreation Department administers a Youth Scholarship Fund for Vandalia-Butler students who may need financial assistance to access programs such as Youth Sports Athletic Leagues, CampRec Summer Camp, and a Youth Membership at the Vandalia Recreation Center.  

These need-based scholarships will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis.

To be eligible for a scholarship, the applicant MUST be a student in the Vandalia-Butler School District. The applicant also must submit a letter from the school district indicating that he or she receives reduced or free lunches.

Youth Athletics:

The deadline to apply for a Youth Recreation Scholarship Application (PDF) varies by the sport. 

Baseball/Softball deadline- March 1.

Soccer deadline- July 1.

Flag Football deadline- August 1.

Basketball deadline- October 1.

Summer CampREC:

The deadline to turn in the Summer CampRec Scholarship Application (PDF) is Friday, March 31.

Fully completed applications are TIME SENSITIVE, as scholarships are awarded on a first-come first-served basis based on need and availability of scholarship funds.

The maximum scholarship available will be the following:

     a. 50% of weekly fee(s) for Reduced Lunch applicants.

     b. 75% of weekly fee(s) for Free Lunch applicants. 

VRC Youth Membership:

The VRC Membership Scholarship Application (PDF) may be submitted at any time during the year. 

Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis based on need and availability of scholarship funds.
